Hi all!
My name is Chiara and I am a bookworm.
Today’s topic for those of you who don’t know is Top 10 Favourite Tropes.
I know that’s not what my title says … but bear with me.
Until I started blogging I had no idea what a ‘trope’ was … I have since learned but I don’t pay much attention to them in books. Unless they are really, really, cliched, it doesn’t bother me to read them. On the other hand, because I have never thought that much about them I don’t have favourites. In fact I had to google so common, well-known ones in order to even get a potentials list.
Therefore I am doing a list of tropes I don’t hate. Some of these are tropes I don’t hate reading … or just tropes I don’t hate the idea of.
I hope you enjoy my list …
- Trapped in an elevator
- Love triangle
- Fake relationship
- The secret heir
- The mentor
- Here comes the cavalry
- The quest
- Rags to Riches
- Kidnapped
- Heroes do terrible things and villains do good things
Great list! I’m especially fond of 3, 4 and 7. I think the trope I read the most would be number 3. It’s quite popular in the romance genre! Which trope do you read the most and still enjoy?

Trapped in an elevator sounds promising. It reminds me of that Gossip Girl episode when Dan and Serena were trapped in an elevator lol. Great list! I like that it wasn’t favorites per se, but tropes you don’t hate. It works ❤

I definitely get what you’re saying and why you went with ‘tropes I don’t hate’ vs. tropes you love. It makes a lot of sense. That being said, I enjoy a lot of these myself if they’re done right! I love that you included ‘heroes do terrible things and villains do good things’ because I like seeing that line get blurred. Bad people can do good things, good people can do bad things, there’s always that in between and I really appreciate it when it’s included/explored! Great picks.
