Hi all!
My name is Chiara and I am a Bookworm.
So … Saturday I came back after my month long hiatus and part of why I came back now is because I wanted to share a piece a news with you that I hoping you will be soooo jealous of.
First a bit of backstory …
Towards the end of July … in fact, I think it was the end of July because it was my birthday, my bestie messaged me and said I just saw this on instagram I know you like this author …. do you want to go? And I immediately said yes.
And yes … before I go any further … I am deliberately leaving off the author’s name so that I can do a dramatic reveal later on.
So (back to the story) we booked ourselves two tickets and i filed them away somewhere in the back of my email server and completely forgot about it. I even forgot about it when I went and books loads of days and hours off from work because of my many different medical appointments. (Something I won’t go into right now because I am currently fed up with how many different doctor and medical specialist/personnel I am seeing for my dizziness. This has been going on since the middle of MAY!)
It wasn’t until I was my friend a week a go that I remembered that we had said we were going and I hadn’t booked it off. At that point I didn’t have my schedule for this week so it was anyone’s guess whether I would be able to go.
I guess you must already know that answer to the question of whether I went or not because otherwise I wouldn’t be telling you this story.
But I had no idea what to expect at all from this. It has been a while since I read any of this author’s books but I knew they had a new one out, in fact I had requested it on NetGalley and never got it, and I was excited to hear more about it … but I had no idea what any of this ‘lunch time talk’ would involve. Was I expected to know a lot about all of their books. Basically I was just being me and freaking myself out. But I went along and I took all the other books I already had of theirs hoping to get them signed.
Now I hope that you are all on the edges of your seats waiting to find out who I went and met. So it must be about time I tell you.
Well … I met …
JOJO MOYES
It was such an amazing experience. I don’t know if any of you have read Giver of Stars yet, I haven’t but it is definitely on my TBR now. Despite a few microphone problems I was brilliant listening to JoJo talk about how she’d come to write this book and her experiences and research that led to the book. And when it came time to ask question, me, always the anger beaver and the Hermione wanna-be, I had my hand up in the air and was the first to ask a question. I shan’t tell you what my question was but let me just say that the answer I got was insightful into her process and interesting for me as an aspiring writer. As soon as she was finished JoJo went off into a smaller room and set up ready to sign books.
The queue … OMG the queue. Me and my bestie got to be quite near the front of the queue but we still queued for about ten minutes before we got to the front of the queue. JoJo was really nice to talk to and was kind enough to take pictures with us.
If you’re in any doubt … that’s me on the left.
And here are my signed books
To end I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to JoJo … I had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to read your latest book.
And to all the staff at Bolton Library, who were amazingly organised … thank you and I would love to be back next time you are hosting an author.
Nice! Keep writing, Chiara! “No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world” – Robin Williams
