Hi all my bookworms!
How are you all?
Today is the first of February and I hope you are all having a good year so far.
It’s the end of January and I want to hear all about the new things you’ve been trying so far this year. What you’ve enjoyed and what you’ve not …
There are six categories and I’ve left some prompts for each category. I’ve tagged some people at the bottom, but if I haven’t tagged you, feel free to do it anyway.
New Music …
Have you listened to any new songs or artists in the new year whether they are brand new, or just new to you?
So just after New Years I discovered BTS. I had heard about them before having to listened to other K-pop music such as Girls Generation and F(x) and watching a lot (and I mean a lot) of K-dramas. But I have got into their music in a big way and I am loving their latest release, Black Swan.
New Food …
Have you tried any new food, or drinks, so far this year? Something we all should try or something to be avoided?
New food. I’m sort of on the edge whether I have tried new food or not this year. Living in Paris means that I eat what my host family eats and they are almost completely vegetarian. So I’ve had some different meals but not necessarily food I haven’t eaten at home. I would say the only new thing I have eaten is cheese. I am a huge cheese fan and the french have cheese after pretty much every meal so I have tried some new cheeses, names of which I can’t remember because there are sooooo many!
New Hobbies …
Have you started a new hobby or a new sport so far this year? Have you joined a new gym and not been? Or have you joined a gym and actually manages to go?
I wouldn’t say I have picked up any new sports or hobbies and I have definitely not joined the gym. I am walking a lot more in Paris than I do at home so there’s that.
New Books …
Here’s the bit all you bookworms were waiting for! Have you read any new books? Have you managed to read anything off you TBR? Any books you really want to recommend? Any books you have DNF’d?
I’re read a few new books so far this year. I read Kissing Booth 2 straight after it came out (check out my review here) and so far I am two-thirds of the way through my first Leigh Bardugo book. And it’s so good. I have no idea why I put this off so long. It may be my first 5* read of the year.
New Authors …
This really could have done this as a part of the books section, but I want to hear all about any new author’s you’ve discovered so far this year.
Obviously as I just mentioned I’m reading my first Bardugo book but I have also read a poetry novel by Clementine Beauvais and I am excited for ‘Of Curses and Kisses’ by Sandhya Menon that is being released later this month. I like to look through an authors other work when find something of theirs that I like or want to read and she has written so much stuff and has been on the New York Times bestselling list and I have never seen any of her stuff before. If I like Of Curses and Kisses as much as I expect to I will have to check out her other work.
New Years Resolutions …
Did you set yourself a New Years resolution this year? Have you kept up with it? How’s it going?
I don’t think I ever really sat down and said to myself these are my resolutions for 2020 but I really want to read more books than I did last year and I want to finish my current draft of my WIP, edit it and hopefully (fingers crossed!) get it off to an agent by the end of the year (or sooner if I really pull my finger out!)
So that is how my year is going so far. I am tagging
Esmée at Servillas Speaks
Candyce at The Book Dutchesses
Gina at GinaRaeMitchell.com
And Jess at Jess Combs
Oh yes! And you! Please have a go at this if you would really like and just remember to link it back here so that I can check it out.
Love this tag! I plan on doing this one next week 😊

I listened to Treasure and Wave first by them but honestly I love all their songs, I’d say listen to Wave, Say My Name, Wonderland, Aurora then Answer. I think you’ll cover all their eras that way and Aurora is just a personal fav of mine haha 🙂
