#SixForSunday: Tropes I Want To See More of

Hi all my Bookworms!

My name is Chiara and I am a Bookworm.

How are you all?

I hope your week went well. Does anyone else realise that this is my last #S4S for July? This month has gone by so quickly. I am definitely counting down the days till by birthday.

Before I dive in I should tell you about #S4S. Six For Sunday, or #S4S for short, is a weekly book meme created in June 2017 by Steph over at A Little But A Lot, and each week there is a different topic.  I really encourage you to check out their site.

The topics we’ve had so far this month are:

5th July: Tropes You Love

12th July: Tropes You Hate

19th July: Overdone Tropes

26th July: Tropes You Want To See More of. (<-this week)

  1. Found Family – I know that Found Family is actually quite a common trope but I love it so much that I always want more of it. There’s a saying that ‘you can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family’ but I think a lot of books prove that to be wrong. We can choose the people that we keeps in our lives and make family.
  2. Female Heroines – I always want a bit more girl power!
  3. And They Don’t Live Happily Ever After – I know that sounds a little backwards. But I’ve read a few books in the last few months where the characters don’t end up together at the end. The move on from each other decide that their lives are better apart.
  4. Team Work! – I’ve said in the past few weeks how much I dislike the Chosen One trope, but the opposite of that for me is Team Work. A large group of people come together and get the job done.
  5. The Slow burn – I think that there is something brilliant about slow burn romances, but they are so difficult to get right.
  6. I Like Who I Like – I’m not sure that this is a trope, or if it is, I’m not sure this is the name for it. By that title I mean a character not coming out and explicitly stating their sexuality and just saying that they like the people that they like and they don’t need a label.

Do you want to see more of these tropes, or do you like different ones? Let me know in the comments. I’d love to know what you think.

  1. Ugh Team work is such a good one! I lkove it when it is a group of people ‘saving the world’ instead of just one sepcial one!
